Dog-Friendly Miami Guide

Hey, there. It's @sterlingarcher_theyorkie here. My family and I moved to Miami in November from Ann Arbor, MI. We wanted to escape the winter and experience something new. When we moved here we not only changed our location, we also changed our lifestyle.

One of the best things about Miami is how dog-friendly it is! It’s not unusual to see patios and stores full of my dog friends.

We went from 20° winter days to 75° days! No longer am I layering up clothes to stay warm, I’m now focused on staying cool while looking fashionable. This means really putting an emphasis on my accessories! You can change your entire look by merely mixing and matching your harness, leash, and poop bag. I mixed and matched the Elma Poop Bag holder, the Globe Trotter Harness, and Leash.

The Globe Trotter Leash gives any outfit a sporty feel. The biggest benefit? It’s an adjustable leash that easily goes from 37” to 70” long. The Elma Poop Bag Holder is not your average poop bag holder! Shaped like an elephant, this leather poop bag holder is beautifully constructed and above all very chic!

My favorite park hands down is South Pointe Park! Not only is it beautiful, but there’s so much to do! There are beautiful paths to walk along with waterfront views. If you’re a social pup, there is an off-leash park to play with other furry friends. South Pointe Park also has tons of green space to relax, have a picnic, or in my case, people watch!

For this occasion, I chose the Hazel leash, which is perfect for a pup on the go! As one of maxbone’s newest leashes, the Hazel brings forth style and functionality. It’s waterproof, lightweight, and made from strong coated webbing making it super easy to clean. I especially love the Hazel Leash in the color Sand! It’s the perfect neutral that will match with anything! You can mix it and match it with the Sport Poop Bag Holder that is the perfect addition to any leash.

Remember there are no rules when it comes to fashion! Mix and match as you please! Just have fun with it all! No matter what, know that you are going to look great!

More Miami Travel Tips:

If you’re looking to do some shopping, there is no place like the Miami Design District! From Sephora to Gucci, there are tons of stores to choose from. Even if you’re not in the shopping mood, there’s still so much to do! For instance, there are so many cool art installations placed all throughout the Design District like the 10-foot solo cup sculpture by Paula Crown, which makes for great spots for photo ops! While in the Design District be sure to stop by Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink. It’s located in a laid-back courtyard that welcomes dogs. Stop by for a bite or a tasty beverage! Ps, the Design District also has a dog park!

Favorite Rooftop - No. 3 Social offers a brightly decorated rooftop that sits above the vibrant Wynwood neighborhood. While there are quite a few rooftop restaurants and bars in Miami, not all allow dogs, this one fortunately does!

Restaurant with a View - The Lido Bayside Grill at The Standard Hotel has the most amazing views of Biscayne Bay! Have a bite and watch the luxurious boats go by. If you’re lucky you might even see a dolphin while you’re having lunch!

Most Instagramable - If you love bright, beautifully painted walls, then Wynwood is the place for you! It’s a neighborhood with amazing murals on basically every wall. Graffiti art and street murals are not only allowed but welcomed!
